   胡楊是落葉中型天然喬木，直徑可達1.5米，木質纖細柔軟，樹葉闊大清香。耐旱耐澇，生命頑強，是自然界稀有的樹種之一。胡楊樹齡可達200年，樹干通直，高10-15米，稀灌木狀。樹葉奇特，因生長在極旱荒漠區，為適應干旱環境，生長在幼樹嫩枝上的葉片狹長如柳，大樹老枝條上的葉卻圓潤如楊。</font></h1> <h1><font style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">       胡楊能從根部萌生幼苗，能忍受荒漠中干旱的環境，對鹽堿有極強的忍耐力。樹皮淡灰褐色，下部條裂；萌枝細，圓形，光滑或微有絨毛。芽橢圓形，光滑，褐色，長約7毫米。長枝和幼苗、幼樹上的葉線狀披針形或狹披針形，全緣或不規則的疏波狀齒牙緣；成年樹小枝泥黃色，有短絨毛或無毛，枝內富含鹽量，嘴咬有咸味。</font></h1> <h1><font style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">  胡楊的葉是一種良好的牛羊飼料，特別是羊最喜吃。綠葉、枯葉以及幼嫩的枝梢，均可使用。在胡楊分布地區，林中每年都有大量落葉，牧民常利用作羊的"冬窩子"，（即冬季放牧草場）。</h1> <h3></h3> <h1>        胡楊主要用種子繁殖，插條難于成活。胡楊種子應在7~8月份待果穗由綠變黃、蒴果先端開裂露出白絮后，及時選擇優良母株采集果穗，晾干脫種。選擇濕潤、肥沃、排水良好的細沙土或沙壤土筑床、垅床或低床均可，種子拌細沙條播或撒播。2～4年生苗即可造林。直播造林或植苗造林均可。</h1> <h3></h3> <h1>        胡楊系古地中海成分，是第三世紀殘余的古老樹種，在6000多萬年前就在地球上生存。在古地中海沿岸地區陸續出現，成為山地河谷小葉林的重要成分。在第四紀早、中期，胡楊逐漸演變成荒漠河岸林最主要的建群種。生在我國柴達木盆地格爾木盆的胡楊樹，剛冒出幼芽就拼命的扎根，在極其炎熱干旱的環境中，能長到30多米高。當樹齡開始老化時，它會逐漸自行斷脫樹頂的枝杈和樹干，最后降低到三、四米高，依然枝繁葉茂，直到老死枯干，仍舊站立不倒。<br
