251);"> 去城西郊八公里有清溪七十壩焉，其東北隅有同心水驛，或曰蓋因商號之名名之也。其驛始建于清乾隆元年（1763年）。余偕二三子以探其實，而訪劉公于三合場喻家院之武威堂貴邸。</b></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="color: rgb(22, 126, 251);"> 劉公府邸，臨平江東南岸而筑。時值春末夏初，但見堤上芳草留春，桃柳新枝，樹杪云蒸，色澤新豐，嬌青淺翠，翠茵堆錦，籠煙惹濕。</b></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="color: rgb(22, 126, 251);"> 余以驛源詢公，公曰：驛者，置騎也，郵騎傳遽之館在四方者，自古而今皆有之。《古今注》載，堯“設誹謗之木”于康衢，形似桔槔，置納言，以通明四方耳目。至于周，曰傳、曰驲；春秋曰遽、曰郵、曰置，秦一統天下，曰郵；兩漢曰驛，而魏晉之際郵、驛并稱；唐時曰館；宋時曰急遞鋪；元時曰站、赤；明代復曰驛；至清季復曰郵、驛。</b></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="color: rgb(22, 126, 251);"> 公曰：平江之源在平茶里，俗稱水碓巖灘。舊時，民居深山，濱溪谷，去郡遠者或且千里，吏事往來，輒發民乘船，名曰傳役。每一吏出，徭及數家，百姓苦之。因列亭傳，置郵驛，于是役省勞息。</b></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="color: rgb(22, 126, 251);"> 公曰：同心者，意為九族親睦，萬邦合和，舜日堯天，大同盛世。其驛背靠旺明，群山巍峨；襟帶平江，煙波浩渺；與五拱橋隔水相望；西接巨豐，東引黃桷。水驛常備舟船，撐夫挽卒，晝夜喧呼。南來北往，道路如織。水陸所湊，貨殖所萃，四方珍奇，莫此為先，藏山隱水，瑰寶溢目，商船遠屆，委輸江左。舟舶繼路，商使交屬。自同心驛與復興河匯聚，經酉水、入沅水、常德而注洞庭。</b></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="color: rgb(22, 126, 251);"> 公曰：《秀山縣志》載：“平茶地壩，月旗數里，沃壤連塍，以饒衍名一縣。其巨豐永豐二堰，并萬金之工也，平渠引溉，利潤千頃，故附郭西北諸鄉，膏腴偁最。”自此無卑濕之苦，無水潦之旱，沃野數十里，土壤膏腴，人情物態，別是一方。</b></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="color: rgb(22, 126, 251);"> 劉公者，字德貴，祖居秀邑，孝溪水庫首任書記、所長。年逾鮐背，而精神燿灼。公性忠純而高潔，好吟詠，為人和樂平易，方介自守，恥為干謁。小筑臨江，不肯輕履城市。</b></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="color: rgb(22, 126, 251);">
