<p class="ql-block">今天是五四青年節(jié)。時代在變,但五四精神卻從未改變。我們要繼續(xù)傳承不畏艱險(xiǎn)、不惜犧牲、不辭勞苦、不怕困難的頑強(qiáng)革命精神,做一個新時代的好青年。今天我們就一起來學(xué)習(xí)了解與“五四青年節(jié)”相關(guān)的英語知識。</p> <p class="ql-block">Youth Day (青年節(jié))International Youth Day</p><p class="ql-block">(國際青年節(jié))“五四青年節(jié)”為了紀(jì)念1919年以反對帝國主義(imperialism),弘揚(yáng)民主(democracy)與科學(xué) (science) 為目的的五四運(yùn)動(May Fourth Movement)而設(shè)立的。中國共產(chǎn)黨領(lǐng)導(dǎo)下的先進(jìn)青年組織是中國共產(chǎn)主義青年團(tuán)(China Communist Youth League),簡稱共青團(tuán)。</p> <p class="ql-block">Patriotism 愛國 </p><p class="ql-block">Progress 進(jìn)步</p><p class="ql-block">Democracy 民主</p><p class="ql-block">Science 科學(xué)</p> <p class="ql-block">The May Fourth Movement, which took place on May 4, 1919, was an anti-imperialist, anti-feudal, political and cultural movement. The movement was centered in Beijing, and soon spread to Shanghai, Tianjin, Qingdao and many other cities. 五四運(yùn)動是1919年5月4日發(fā)生的一場反帝反封建的政治文化運(yùn)動。這次運(yùn)動以北京為中心,很快擴(kuò)大到上海、天津、青島等許多城市。It was a patriotic movement with broad participation by citizens, businessmen and workers, in which young students served as the main force. They took various activities, such as demonstration and strike, to protest the weak government and claim to recover the national sovereignty. 五四運(yùn)動是以青年學(xué)生為主力,市民、商人和工人等廣泛參與的一次愛國運(yùn)動。他們通過示威游行、罷工等各種活動來抗議軟弱的政府,要求恢復(fù)國家主權(quán)。The May Fourth Movement played a significant role in Chinese politics, culture, education as well as the development of the Communist Party of China. In order to commemorate this movement, the May 4 was officially announced as the Chinese Youth Day after the founding of People's Republic of China.五四運(yùn)動對中國的政治、文化、教育,以及中國共產(chǎn)黨的發(fā)展有著重要的作用。為了紀(jì)念這次運(yùn)動中華人民共和國成立后正式宣布5月4日為中國青年節(jié)。</p> <p class="ql-block">If the youth are wise, the country will be wise.</p><p class="ql-block">If the youth prosper, the country will prosper.</p><p class="ql-block">If the youth are strong, the country will be strong.</p><p class="ql-block">If the youth are independent, the country will be independent.</p><p class="ql-block">If the youth progress, the country will progress.</p> <p class="ql-block">In the English corner,students are actively rehearsing Youth to salute Youth Day (May 4). They are so wonderful,brilliant,adorable and extraordinary that I feel very proud of being their mentors.</p> <p class="ql-block">Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life.</p><p class="ql-block">青春不是芳華年少,而是一種心境;青春不是桃花紅顏、盈盈朱唇、輕柔體態(tài),而是積極的心志,豐富的想象,炙熱的感情;青春是充滿生機(jī)、清新盎然的生命源泉。</p><p class="ql-block">Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20. Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals.</p><p class="ql-block">青春是一種心性氣勢,是膽量戰(zhàn)勝怯懦,是勇敢探索戰(zhàn)勝茍且偷安。這樣的銳氣,與其說二十后生才具備,不如說在六旬老翁身上更多見。年輪的累加,并非意味著垂老;丟棄理想,才是真正意義的暮年。</p><p class="ql-block">Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spring back to dust.</p><p class="ql-block">歲月會在額頭上留下痕跡;而拋卻熱忱,則讓靈魂長滿皺紋。憂愁煩惱,恐懼焦慮,自疑畏縮,一定使心靈頹廢,意氣如灰。</p><p class="ql-block">Whether 60 or 16, there is in every human being's heart the lure of wonder, the unfailing childlike appetite of what's next and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station: so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from the Infinite, so long are you young.</p><p class="ql-block">無論年屆花甲,還是芳齡二八,人人心中都想往著奇妙事物,想知道明天會發(fā)生什么;都有一顆孩童般久盛不衰的好奇心。你我的心中都豎有一架天線,只要你從天上人間接受美好、希望、歡樂、勇氣和力量的信號,你就青春永駐,風(fēng)華常存。</p><p class="ql-block">When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old, even at 20, but as long as your aerials are up, to catch waves of optimism, there is hope you may die young at 80.</p><p class="ql-block">然而,天線一旦收起,玩世不恭、悲觀厭世就會像冰雪一樣,封蓋你的銳氣,即使年方二十,實(shí)際上也是垂垂老矣;但是,只要天線高置,還在捕捉樂觀的信號,追求美妙的夢想,你就有望在八十高齡告別塵寰時,仍然年輕。</p> <p class="ql-block">優(yōu)秀的作品能激勵一代人,甚至是一個民族。美國作家塞繆爾·厄爾曼的《青春》"Youth",就是這樣一篇美文,也以此致敬五四青年節(jié)!</p>
