在海南省瓊海市有一條合水溪，它自西而東流經(jīng)瓊海大地而奔向南海。該溪流出海口處有一泓深潭，加上古代漁民習(xí)慣把通行船只的水道叫做‘門’，所以，人們便把該溪流出海口近旁的地方叫作‘潭門’。There is a river running from the west to east of Qionghai in Hainan Province.
