<h1><b><font style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">日本園藝師伊藤東一（Toichi Itoh)在1948年將芍藥Kakodden 和牡丹Alicing Harding 雜交并成功，不幸的是這批育苗一直到1956年依藤先生去逝都沒開花。美國人Louis Smirnow把這批育苗帶到美國。1963年，它們開始開花，1974年，Louis 登錄了四個品種：Yellow Crown, Yellow Dream, Yellow Emperor和Yellow Heaven . 之后牡丹和芍藥的雜交得到廣泛開展，現在己經有超過100個品種國際登錄。為了紀念伊藤先生的貢獻，這種雜交的花叫Itoh Peony.<br /></font></b><b><font style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">中國在2005年培養出第一株中國伊藤牡丹，取名"和諧"。<br /></font></b><b><font style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">伊藤具有牡丹硬枝條和大葉片的特點，又有芍藥花繁和草本的特點，顏色有白，黃，橙，紅和紫。但是花型以單瓣和荷花型為主，價錢偏貴。著名的Bartzella出道時曾賣到1000美元一株。牡丹和芍藥雜交非常不容易，現在只能以芍藥為母本，而且種子出苗要經過很長的時間才能開花，這應該是貴的原因之一。<br /></font></b><b><font style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">今年院子里盛開的Itoh Peonies.<br /></font></b><b><font style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">1.
